Batesian mimicry is a form of mimicry which consists of a harmless species imitating another harmful species in the but to protect itself from predators. Recently researchers observed the first form of Batesian mimicry in a mammal. The Greater Bat is a species of bat that lives in Europe. When an owl or an owl approaches it, the bat produces a sound that is strongly akin to the buzzing of a bumblebee. This buzz scares the raptor that releases the bat.
