What is thigmonasty?

0
Nicknamed the "shy plant", the Mimosa pudica closes when you touch its foliage. This is a case of thigmonasty. Thigmonasty is the name given to a plant's reaction to tactile stimulation. Its name comes from the Greek thigganein which means "to touch". These can be defensive or offensive moves. Only two types of plants are capable of thigmonasty: carnivorous plants, fearless flowers, and sensitive plants like Mimosa pudica.
