Located off England (Europe), the Principality of Sealand measures 550m2. It is the smallest country in the world. Sealand is a former military platform created during WWII. In 1967, Paddy Roy Bates, a former British Army major, proclaimed himself Prince and Head of State of Sealand. The country has a constitution dating from 1975, a currency, a flag. Michael Bates, son of Roy, is now the head of state of Sealand.
