What is the most uncommon color in animals?

It is a color that barely exists on animal's bodies or furs. Blue is the rarest color in the animal kingdom. This is because the pigments responsible for coloring animals are few in number. Carotenoids produce red and orange, black and brown are due to eumelanin, and yellow pigments are produced by pteridine. Photo credit: The Explorers
