This is also called a startle demonstration. Deimatic behavior designates the surprising attitude adopted by an animal deemed harmless when the latter is attacked. This behavior can take several forms: an attribute that expands or the display of a new color on its body. This change for but to intimidate the potential predator. For example, the blue-tongued flicker (Tiliqua gigas evanescens) is a snake that colors its tongue bright blue when sent under attack.
