Vinicunca, the rainbow mountain

0
Vinicunca Mountain, also called Montaña de los Siete Colores in spanish, is a rainbow mountain located in the Cusco region of Peru (South America). It rises to more than 5000 meters above sea level. This geological phenomenon stems from the accumulation of sediment layers for several centuries. Several elements explain the differences in colors: sulfur gives the color yellow, iron oxide gives the color red and copper sulfate for the color green.
