One protected species can save another

They are called umbrella species. In this family, we find, for example, the humpback whale, the hedgehog, the otter, the tiger, the giant panda or even the koala. The protection of a species includes the protection of its habitat. The peculiarity of the “umbrella” species is that their habitat area is so large that it allows other species to be saved. In addition, they often have a high sympathy capital, which helps to protect them. Photo credit: Thomas Kelley
