It measures on average 13 centimeters and is endemic to Argentina. The Argentine dwarf armadillo is a very unique species of armadillo. Its body is covered with a pink carapace which seems to be delicately placed on a soft and silky white coat. It lives in the desert regions of central Argentina. Very little seen by humans, the animal lives mainly at night. The Argentine dwarf armadillo spends most of its time in underground galleries. It digs tunnels in which it stores its food: mostly insects and plants. This tattoo species is threatened by intensive agricultural practices and predation from dogs.
