Its sense of smell is 40 times more developed than that of a human being. The great anteater is the largest anteater in the world. This mammal compensates for its poor eyesight with an excellent sense of smell. It can swallow up to 30,000 ants or termites per day. The great anteater lives in the meadows and humid forests of South Africa, it can measure more than 2 meters long and weigh up to 50 kilos. It is now the most endangered anteater in the world due to deforestation, poaching, and fires.
