When it is born, the kangaroo is very small. Its body is far from being fully formed, it only measures 2,5 centimeters. Its size is comparable to one of a lima bean. It is born on average after 4 to 5 weeks of gestation. The baby kangaroo then uses its front limbs to climb up to its mother's pouch. In this pocket, there are the udders that would allow it to continue its growth. It will leave the pocket after six months. Photo credit: Mark Stoop
