This toad imitates a viper to protect itself

The Congolese giant toad shares its habitat with the most dangerous snakes of Africa. It can run into the water cobra, the Naja annulata, which can measure up to 2.7 m and whose venom is dangerously neurotoxic. To deceive predators, this amphibian has learned to pretend to be a poisonous viper from Gabon. It is a form of Batesian mimicry, that is to say when a harmless species takes on the appearance and behavior of a dangerous animal to protect itself.
