Japanese researchers have made this incredible discovery. This is called the self-reliance process. The sacoglossus, a species of sea slug, can be beheaded to create a new body. Why is this slug chopping off its head? The hypothesis put forward by the researchers is that of a need to get rid of the parasites that inhibit its reproduction.
