It measures between 28 and 30 centimeters. The Goliath spider has been discovered in 1804 in the Amazonian forest in Venezuela (South America) by French scientist Pierre-André Latreille. The spider feeds on birds and mice. According to the World Record Guinness Book, it is the world's largest spider.
