At the embryonic stage, the turquoise killifish has this incredible ability to stop its development. This is a diapause. The turquoise killifish evolves in lakes in a semi-arid zone, so when the environmental conditions are not favorable to its development, the fish can decide to suspend its life for several months. It will resume its life once the conditions are met.
