These birds are poisonous

It is a rare phenomenon. The Kowald's Ifrita (Ifrita kowaldi) and the Two-colored Pitohui (Pitohui dichrous) are poisonous birds. Endemic to New Guinea, these colorful birds hold in their feathers, but also in their skin, a very dangerous toxin called batrachotoxin. This poison comes from their diet. Batrachotoxin is a bacterium carried by beetles. When birds eat beetles, the harmful bacteria transfers into their bodies. Kowald's Ifrita and Two-Tone Pitohui are deadly if touched or eaten. Only a dose of 100 micrograms of this poison is capable of killing a human being.
