The Saiga antelope is a species on the brink of extinction. In 40 years, 96% of its population has disappeared. She lives in the steppes of Central Asia. This year, thanks to a species monitoring program, 530 saigas were born in Kazakhstan. In 2019, only three newborns had been identified. Photo credit: Darwin Initiative
