The silent flight of owls
6
0
They have an absolutely silent flight. Unlike most birds, owls make almost no sound when they fly. This difference is due to their morphology: giant wings attached to a small body. A feature that allows these nocturnal raptors to gently flap their wings to soar. Their silent flight is also explained by their plumage: owls on feathers which reduce friction in flight but also at rest. Photo credit: Bob Brewer
