The revival of Lake Chad
1
0
In the years 1970-80, its surface had been reduced by 90%. Lake Chad straddles Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria and Niger (Central Africa). Due to long periods of drought, this Sahelian lake was threatened with disappearing. However, for 30 years, the level of Lake Chad has remained stable or even increased. According to a recent study, the lake is recovering naturally thanks to more rainfall. A good news because this Sahelian area supports nearly 40 million people. Photo credit: Matt Tomalty
