The cubs of hope
In the Niokolo-Koba park, in the south-east of Senegal (West Africa), three lion cubs were filmed last month. The West African lion is a critically endangered species. Thanks to conservation efforts carried out jointly by the American NGO Panthera and the Senegalese authorities, the number of West African lions in Senegal has doubled, going from about fifteen individuals in 2011 to thirty today. The Niokolo-Koba lion displays one of the most encouraged demographics for the future of the West African lion.
