280 lightning per hour! This is the rate at which lightning strikes for about ten hours. This meteorological phenomenon of the Venezuelan (South America) sky, unique in the world and still unexplained, takes place between 140 and 160 nights per year. This specific storm develops itself at the mouth of the Catatumbo River when it flows into Lake Maracaibo (west of Venezuela).
