It can reach 65 km/h! The black-tailed jackrabbit (Lepus californicus) is a formidable sprinter. A favorite target of coyotes in Mount Whitney (California), the California hare can travel six meters in a single link. By way of comparison, the cheetah, the fastest land animal in the world, can reach top speeds of 110 km/h.
