The Argyronet (Argyroneta aquatica) is the only spider in the world that is predominantly aquatic. With no gills and an aerial respiratory system, the argyronet weaves an impermeable web underwater. Inside this pocket, it can rest, reproduce, hunt or hibernate from November to February. This web breathes on its own, taking in oxygen from the water. The Argyronete regularly rises to the surface to collect air from the hairs on its abdomen and release it under its bell.
