Found in Africa, Asia and Europe, the Bearded Vulture is the only bird to feed mainly on bones. Its bone-breaking technique is highly unusual. The bearded vulture takes to the air at heights of over 50 metres, dropping the bones onto the stone to break them. He does this as many times as necessary (sometimes up to 20 in a row!). In this way, he performs a sanitary function in the wild.
