Save the Indian lakes

Arun Krishnamurthy is a young Indian who has the ambition to save his country's lakes. In 2007, at the age of 20, he created the Environmentalist Foundation of India (Indian Foundation for the Environment) to clean up the water bodies of his country. Since then, 180 lakes and large ponds have been cleaned thanks to him and his team of volunteers. On average, they collect between 60 and 100 tonnes of plastic waste per lake or pond. But the treatment of collected waste is not the miracle solution, which is why Arun Krishnamurthy also raises awareness among the population to consume less plastic on a daily basis.
