Specialist in bats, Rodrigo Medellin is a Mexican biologist recognized throughout the world. For thirty years, he has worked to protect mammals in his country and internationally. In this capacity, he is co-chairman of the bat specialist group of the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature). In 2013, thanks to the programs he launched, a species of bat was removed from the list of species threatened with extinction. According to him, bats suffer from great ignorance regarding their identity and function. Pollinating species, they play a key role in the restoration of forests.
