Reintroduction of a fish 20 years later!
In 2003, it completely disappeared in its natural state due to the poor quality of the water and the presence of invasive species. The tropical fish Zoogoneticus tequila is endemic to the Rio Ameca basin, Mexico (North America). Fortunately, a few years ago, scientists recovered five pairs to prevent the extinction of the species. A few months ago and after years of breeding, 1,500 individuals were reintroduced into the Teuchitlán River in western Mexico.
