It was born thirty years before the Civil War. At 190 years old, the Jonathan tortoise becomes the oldest living land animal in the world. This giant tortoise from the Seychelles was born in 1836. In 1882, it was offered to the governor of the island of Saint Helena (Atlantic) and has lived on this island ever since.
