Ray of hope for the Indian rhinoceros

It hasn't happened for 45 years. In the year 2022, no Indian rhinos were poached in the Indian state of Assam. This state, located in the east of the country, is home to the largest population of rhinos in India, ie 2,900 individuals. In 1990, the species was on the verge of extinction due to poaching. Thanks to the joint protection activities carried out by the international association IFAW and the Indian authorities, the number of rhinos has doubled in northeastern India.
