How big is the Atlantic Ocean?
The Atlantic Ocean is the world's second-biggest ocean, following the Pacific. It covers more than 41 million square meters, which is 20% of the Earth's surface. It is four times bigger than Canada. Its name comes from the Ancient Greek expression the Sea of Atlas, Atlas being a Greek god. Photo credit: Ben Thouard / The Explorers
