Corn is the most widely cultivated cereal in the world. The main food resource in the Aztec and Inca empires, corn was introduced to Europe after the discovery of America in 1492. In 2018, 1,148 million tonnes of corn were produced worldwide. In the second place, we find rice (782 million tonnes), then wheat (734 million tonnes) on the last place of the podium.
