Why is the grass green?

The grass is green, as are most plants. It is chlorophyll, a natural pigment, that gives this green color. It absorbs sunlight, retains blue, orange and red. The plan reflects only green light. Chlorophyll also gives sugar to the grass. Photo credit: Ben Thouard / The Explorers
