It is the national bird of Nepal. The Himalayan monal is a rainbow bird. The reflections of its green and blue feathers vary according to exposure to the sun. Only the male wears these colors, the female has brown and beige plumage. The Himalayan monal dwells in the heights of the Himalayas, more than 3,000 meters above sea level.
