The Japanese tea ceremony, "Chanoyu" literally "hot water for tea", is an ancestral cultural practice. It involves the preparation and tasting of matcha green tea. Participants, called "chaji", follow a precise ritual involving deliberate gestures, specific utensils and carefully orchestrated aesthetics. Much more than a simple tea tasting, the tea ceremony aims to promote peace, harmony, respect and balance between participants.
