Don't be fooled by its size! Bees have exceptional cognitive abilities notwithstanding their miniature brain (1 mm3, the size of a sesame seed). A new study in Plos Biology led by the Queen Mary University of London claims that bees can play jigsaw puzzles, observing and imitating other, more experienced bumblebees. The research concludes that learning plays a key role in how bees search for food.
