It is one of the most beautiful landscapes in China. Located in the northwest of the country, the rainbow mountains of Zhangye Danxia provide a spectacular natural backdrop. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, these mountains were formed 24 million years ago. They are the result of a unique geological phenomenon, caused by the deposition of layers of sediments of different colors.
