Female mammals in the wild live longer than males

According to a recent study, in the wild, female mammals have a longer life expectancy than males. This study covers 101 species of mammals: from bats to gorillas to lions. On average, the longevity of females is 18.6% greater than that of males. The explanations given for this longevity gap are mainly biological.
