Marine animals could help monitor the oceans
6
0
90% of the oceans is unknown to humans. To overcome this lack of scientific data, researchers from the University of Exeter (England) have the idea of putting electronic tags on some marine animals. Some animals, such as the seal in the Arctic, reach areas that are inaccessible to conventional observation instruments. Electronic tags already exist for the conservation and monitoring of species. In this specific case, the researchers want the animals to send oceanographic data that will enrich the atlas of marine animal and plant species. Data that would also help prevent climate change.
