The British government has decided to ban bottom trawling at Dogger Bank, the largest sandbar in the country. This fishing technique consists of scraping the ocean floor and catching the marine species found there. According to the international scientific community, it is the most destructive fishing method in European marine protected areas. This ban will come into effect in June 2022.
