It is recognizable by its yellow beak. The bald eagle is a large raptor. In the United States, the population of this species had sharply declined over the last century, mainly due to the use of pesticides and the degradation of its natural environment. In Ohio, in 1979, there were only four breeding pairs. But thanks to conservation efforts, 707 nests were recorded in 2020 in the same state. Photo credit: Lyf Stolte
