It measures 62.4 centimeters. The stick insect Phryganistria chinensis Zhao is the largest insect in the world. It exceeds the 807,625 insects recorded in the world. Endemic to Guangxi province in southern China, this species was discovered in 2014. The insect was named Phryganistria chinensis Zhao in honor of Zhao Li, the scientist who discovered it. Before that, the record was held by a Malaysian stick insect that was 56.7 centimeters long.
