The rabbit is not a rodent

Like the hare, the rabbit is a lagomorph and not a rodent. The word lagomorph comes from ancient Greek: lagôs (hare) and morphê (the form). The difference between a rodent and a lagomorph is visible in the number of their teeth: a rodent has two incisors that grow permanently whereas a lagomorph has four (two large and two more just behind).
