Twenty Tasmanian devils reintroduced to Australia
It had been missing for thousands of years from the Australian continent. Thanks to a collective action carried out by several local associations, around twenty Tasmanian devils have been reintroduced from the island of Tasmania to a sanctuary north of Sydney (Australia). The Tasmanian devil, a marsupial carnivore, has been threatened with extinction since the 1990s by a fatal facial tumor that is transmitted by a bite. Photo credit: Mathias Appel
