Lake Natron, a red paradise for lesser flamingos
2
0
Located in the Arusha region, Lake Natron is one of the natural gems of Tanzania (East Africa). This red body of water owes its color to algae called cyanobacteria. The latter are delicacies for the 2.5 million lesser flamingos that come to breed each year in the region. The waters of the lake can reach a temperature of 60 ° C, which protects the flamingo nests from potential predators.
