It takes its source in Greece and flows in Albania to the Adriatic. With a length of 167 miles, the Vjosa is the largest and one of the last wild rivers in Europe. This is a unique case on the continent, the river is home to any human exploitation. The valley is the natural habitat of the Balkan lynx, brown bear, and gray wolf. A project is underway to obtain the designation national park to protect the Vjosa.
