The life inside the beehive

Bees are diurnal insects that are organized in castes. They feed mainly on pollen and nectar. The queen dedicates her days to laying eggs. The daily activities of worker bees change over time. At birth, they are in charge of cleaning the hive until they are able to take care of the larvae. After about 10 days, they make sure they receive pollen and nectar before becoming foragers after 20 days of life. Photo credit: Nicole Pearce
