In the heart of the Caribbean, the volcanic island of Redonda has a happy destiny. Abandoned since the beginning of the 20th century, the 1.5 square kilometer island had been made uninhabitable by invasive species, the rat, and the goat, introduced by man. In 2016, several associations decided to relocate these harmful species. Today hundreds of new trees have appeared. The land bird population has increased tenfold. The island's vegetation, once again luxuriant, allows many endemic lizards to reproduce and new species of seabirds to find refuge there. Photo credit: Mike Appleton
