Jon Paul Rodríguez, the parrots' protector in Venezuela

Thirty years ago, Venezuelan researcher and biologist Jon Paul Rodríguez, along with his wife, created the environmental association Provita. On Margarita Island, in the Caribbean Sea, off Venezuela, they have been working since the mid-1980s to protect the yellow-winged parrot, a species endemic to the island. In thirty years, their number has increased from 650 to 1,700. To celebrate his environmental efforts, the Whitley Fund for Nature Foundation gave him an award.
