India is home to 70% of the world's tiger population. There are 50 tiger reserves in the country. In 1973, the country launched a vast tiger conservation program after centuries of poaching. They were 1,411 in 2006. Today they are almost 3,000. Photo credit: Vincent Van Zalinge
