They are nicknamed the “eternal light mushrooms”. Mycena luxaeterna are glow-in-the-dark mushrooms from the Atlantic Forest of Brazil. This species of fluorescent fungi grows on pieces of wood. According to several scientists, this ability comes from the same chemical molecule that is present in the body of fireflies. However, to this day, the mystery remains whole about the reasons for this biological faculty.
