Iceberg on the run
4
0
The world's largest iceberg, measuring almost 4,000 km2 (38 times the size of Paris) and weighing 1 tonne, is currently drifting towards the Southern Ocean. Recent satellite images confirm the movement of this immense ice structure, dubbed A23a, raising concerns about its potential impact on navigation and marine ecosystems. The iceberg could run aground off South Georgia Island, posing a problem for Antarctic wildlife. Millions of penguins, sea lions and birds living there would be forced to make longer journeys to find food.
